originally released in 1968, cruisin... was remastered in 1984. for some reason f.z. felt the drums and bass didn't cut the mustard. all cd versions of the album are from the remastered '84 version. lots of scribble scrabble has been written about which is better and why, with most critics favoring the original version. it took a long time to find this gem, but it was well worth it.
so, check out the original version and compare. or just listen to this one.

Many thanks Danton, Ruben is the only Mothers album I've never purchased (or listened to!), purely on the basis of the allegedly awful '84 tampering. Apparently, the 2012 reissue uses the '84 version too, so I guess I'll only ever get to own it if I buy an original vinyl copy? :(
